Too Many Ministers , Too Few Achievements

On last Sunday I read a strange news that Ahmed Nazif is thinking of shrinking his cabinet from 30 ministries to 27 or 26 ministries !! It seems that he suddenly realized there is no need for 3 or 4 ministries after all those years. BY the way some of these ministries were found by presidential decrees which means by Mubarak himself.

We do not need all these ministries , in fact if you look to the civilized nations around the globe , you will find that you do not have this huge number of ministries. We do not need a ministry of information or the ministry of planning and economic development !!

I know in a country like Egypt with its political regime , it is important to control both the media and the cultural movement in the country but what is the role of this ministry of planning and economic development !!?? I think that the ministry of investment in accordance with other ministries do the same role !!!???

The problem we have in Egypt is despite we have this huge number of ministries , we have very few achievements ; these ministries have become a burden on the state themselves with their operating and maintenance expenses only, you will not believe how many millions are wasted annually in useless operating and maintenance expenses and this is just the tip of the ice berg , we have not reached yet to the millions wasted in corruption and in useless projects.

There is no problem with me to have 30 or even 40 ministers , but I want them to be real accountable for what they do , I want transparency to see what they are doing with our money , I want them to do anything for this country and to have a real vision for the future for real.

FYI the majority of the Egyptian people do not know the majority of ministers in Egypt.

  1. It is more than enough to say that we have two ministries of education while there is no education at all..!!!!

  2. Of course you are right, we do have too many ministries and half of them would do.

So let's send the Ministers into retirement and all civil servants ... oops ... could they survive? Should we care about those poor souls?

    Please THINK!
