The Losers and Winners in Gaza War : Palestine

When I speak about Palestine , I must speak about four different parties in Gaza war , yes four different parties.

Those different parties are :

1// The Palestinian People

2// The resistance who fought in Gaza

3//Hamas

4// Fatah

I will start with Fatah ,the last party and the weakest party in the Gaza war. Fatah lost as usual ,they do not have any power on the sector, pathetic corrupted losers as usual. The losers of Fatah like Dahlan came on TV only to attack Hamas in a disgusting way and to defend the Egyptian position. Last time I spoke about Dahlan before when it turned out that he was selling our secrets to the one who pays more. It seems that our regime is a forgiven one after all !!! Mahmoud Abbas proved that Yasser Arafat was better than him 100 times even on the leadership level. This man has no charisma at all what so ever.

Already as far as I know Abbas currently is not the official President or head of the Palestinian authority as his presidential period finished yet he is identified in our media as President Abu Mazan , of course he still acts as the President and Hamas acts as the cabinet at least in Gaza.

Abbas is always considered a loser and weak in the Arab world and Fatah will have a bad image in the eyes of the Arab people. He was attacked all over the Arab world and I feel that the west knows that he is not that strong.  Fatah’s image will be enhanced and improved or rather restored on three conditions :

1// Truly and honestly reconciliation with Hamas “Most unlikely”

2// Marwan Barghouti is released and returns back to Fatah “Also most unlikely to happen despite the rumours circulating from time to time that Israel will exchange him with Gilad or that they need him to save Fatah, guys this is honourable respectable man who loves his country ,he will refuse to be their puppet. He is clean man unlike the thieves of Fatah”

3// Israel attacks the West Bank , I remember that in the siege of Arafat ,all the Arab people hearts were with Fatah.

Fatah is a big loser in this war

Now to Hamas

Now regarding Hamas it depends how you can see them, I think Hamas is powerful than you think whether you like them or not and the evidence is the power they showed in the negotiations in Egypt. The Egyptian regime practiced all kinds of pressure it can be practiced and still Hamas for several weeks now is showing strength surprisingly. I think that part of their strength is the Turks, yes the Turks and not Iran , not Qatar. Turkey has direct strong relations with the Israelis and the West

The problem in Hamas is the problem of the other Palestinian factions including Fatah also ,they do not have the same brains like Hezbollah, it is not about war tactics but also politics. May be Hezbollah had better chance to practice and play in a very strong explosive political arena. Hamas is taking long time somehow to reach to a decision , for instance Mahmoud El-Zahar now is back and the truce announcement is expected sooner insh Allah.

I believe Hamas is a winner compared to Israel,it did not stop its rockets but I can’t consider Hamas a fully winner because of their political mistakes from an escalation with Egypt and contradicting statements from the delegation in Cairo and Mashal around the Middle East. Yes it won something , but it should not celebrate celebrate that gain.

Now to the resistance :

The resistance includes all those who fought the IDF in Gaza and managed to give the IDF hard time to advance in the city and to stop launching rockets. Those losses the IDF are not small as you think , again do not forget that Israel banned the foreign journalists from covering the war as it should in Israel. The resistance is not only Hamas but also other factions and groups in the city.

The resistance won the battlefield in Gaza , Israel did not win the battlefield, it did not advance in the sector. Of course the war already from the beginning was in the resistance side , again this is a guerrilla war between an army and factions fighting in their own city with very high fighting spirit. It can be considered a small victory taking in consideration that Israel had to stop sooner before the inauguration of Obama but You have to remember that the sector was under terrible blockade.

The Palestinian people:

The great Palestinian people, the patient Palestinian people. They lost a lot but for the first time since very long time the world began to stand with them.

the number of casualties is not an indicator of their loss rather an indicator of the huge and terrible power of their enemy that did not conquer them. South Vietnam lost more than American army. The American losses in Vietnam were too small in my opinion compared to the civilian Vietnamese losses , whole villages were killed , of course in the end South Vietnam won. The idea here you can't blame Hamas for those people who were killed because Hamas did not tell Israel to target women or children using incendiary weapons, it did not tell Israel to kill those babies in point blank !! And sure you can't blame them for dragging their people to the war.Because this war did not start from a month ago but rather for rather since the start of the blockade

This is how I see it.

  1. Well, thanks Zeinobia, a very wide and interesting post with lots of elements often not mentioned on the normal media. Probably I do not agree on some of your points of view, but it's very interesting for me to read some deep opinions on these issues outside the normal media streams. Keep talking to the world, this is is the real power of blogging.

  2. My dear Zeinobia .... Very good analysis. I agree to your conclusions.

It is a pitty that with such a just cause, great Palestinian people and the enourmouse suffering, the Gaza destruction is forgotten. The World has shown support and the Arabs have such a short memory as usual.

Our determination for freedom and grasping to our Palestinian identity will never fade. Nothing translates our determination better than the following poem:

Read it carefully and feel the beauty of such a skillful writing. I am in the process of translating it to English.

    Best wishes
