Mohamed ElBaradei : 1St Edition Interview “Part 1”

Here is the first part of Mohamed ElBaradei’s interview with El-Moslamany in Vienna during last summer.

ElBaradei spoke about many things and many issues in Egypt in specific and in the Arab world in general despite he was being asked very few questions compared to his long answers.

He spoke about the revolution and its principles which he really wished that they had been fulfilled , he spoke about the cons of Nasser rule and he spoke about the six days war , which he believes that we are still suffering from its impacts up till now

Historically he mentioned stuff ordinary people in Egypt do not know about regarding what happened backstage in UN between the Egyptian delegation which he was a member in and the US delegation right after the start of War by 24 hours , also this UN resolution the Arab world managed to down despite it may have been in their sake !!?I expect that these two incidents will cause a debate in Egypt.

ElBaradei is not against Pan Arab nationalism, he supports it but if it were more than slogans. He likes the idea of our unity with Syria in 1959 but does not approve on how it was implemented listing our mistakes which no one can deny.

Surprisingly he is not with Camp David accords despite he believes in Peace because we did it without the Arabs’ support causing our isolation in the region. Late foreign minister Ismail Fahmi who resigned after knowing about the decision of Sadat to visit Israel “Fahmi believed that that decision would damage our relations with the Arabs” and You must know that we can consider ElBaradei as the protégé of Fahmi whom he served with for years in the UN and after his resignation he moved to Vienna. He made it clear that he was not among our diplomatic team in Camp David.

He then moved in our Arabic absence role in Iraq,Darfur and even in Iran which is a part of our region.

In general I like what he said , he presents Pan Arab liberalism if there is something in our political diction is called so. What do you think about it !??

I am waiting for the second part of interview next week insh Allah.
