Did the Red Sea Part? No Evidence, Archaeologists Say - New York Times

Link to Did the Red Sea Part? No Evidence, Archaeologists Say - New York Times

Ok but it is not only in the Bible or the Torah ,it is also in the Holy Quran and what is mentioned in the Holy Quran is not a myth , and as far as I know Dr.Hawas is a Muslim so I don't understand what he is saying

Already I know where the Bush they are speaking about it is the Saint Catherine Monastery

Dr. Zahi Hawas I think accidentally not only attacked the Jewish and Christian but also attacked and offended the Islamic faith and its believers when he said that he didn't care

I won't say anything except as some one who reads a lot in the old ancient Egyptian history that I agree with Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Maqsoud, the head of the excavation who is wisely offered another theory for what happened in the Exodus that it could have took place in the modern state , the Pharaoh was drowned and the whole army was killed and that was a crisis and Egyptians never had documented crisis

“This is a crisis for Egypt, and Egyptians do not document their crises.”

Really we are since the beginning of history big fat hypocrites who only mention their rulers success but not their defeats never , we even change in the history to make them appear victorious !!

Something like this wouldn't be documented in a temple or what ever , for God Sake the Whole Aton religion belief was completely destroyed till they found the Amrana city , Tut Ank Amon was totally forgotten till Howard Carter found him

The ancient Egyptians were just like us people with big pride , come on we don't have as much power as they had yet we act as if we were the masters of the universe !!

It is not an excuse that Dr. Hawas didn't find anything that support the Story of the exodus ,that it didn't take place ,already in that way he is saying that the story which Prophet Mohamed "PBUH" said regarding the maid of the pharaoh's daughter didn't took place either !!

For those who don't know the maid of the Pharaoh's daughter was a believer of God from the Israelites who refused to convert to worship the pharaoh and thus she was tortured that the pharaoh's soldiers threw her children in boiled oil in order to force her to convert but she refused yet she began to fear on her baby between her arms , a little baby couple of months ,she looked at him and suddenly spoke telling her not to fear because "God" Allah is with them ,when that miracle happen she herself jumped to oil with the baby in her arm

I am sorry but I believe this story and I think our ancestors didn't document it because it showed that they were wrong and they paid for that

Foolishly Hawas doesn't only dismiss the The Exodus Testament but also the Holy Quran , for God Sake I can not number how many times this story is mentioned in the holy Quran since the first chapter !!

This is not an Arab - Israeli conflict thing , nor a history or science stuff , this is a matter of faith , why we are afraid to admit that we had once cruel ruler !!?? Come one we are having one already !!

You know sometimes I think in the exodus and I believe it is more political then religious, the dictatorship and how the dictators' lives end , and I think one of the disadvantages that our ancestors didn't document this miserable end for the cruel ruler of Egypt in order to give a lesson and wisdom to the future rulers of Egypt

  1. Hold your horses....

Lets view what he had to say, then see if he really offended any religions here.

    1) There isn't an evidence of it. But the Hebrews do exist and they talk about that part of history. Maybe it was exaggerated by them? Possible
    2) All books mentioned this, but without evidence, it remains in the order of "fairy tales". Is that possible? Possible
    3) If the sea would part, would there be evidence of it? Unlikely!
    4) Modern science has proven (And I saw this with my own eyes) that parting of a sea is possible under certain "Scientific" conditions. Now I said scientific because I don't want people to think that I am just going to believe the fairy tale without evidence.

Alright, if we look at 1 & 2 above in light of 3&4 we will conclude that it's possible, even probably that the sea HAS indeed PARTED (as mentioned from multiple sources) How or why might be contested but not the actual event.

Not having evidence about it doesn't conclusively mean that it didn't happen. It's just like somebody threw a stone in the well. Can it be proven either way? maybe, but it will take WAY MORE research than the actual itself to prove or disprove something that could possibly happen or not happen

  2. If all the Holy Books mention this incident does this mean it actually physically happened? Here is what Abddu'l Baha (the Son of Baha'u'llah and the only interpreter of the Baha'i revelation) said about the explanation of this incident: "The crossing of the Red Sea has a spiritual meaning. It was a spiritual journey, through and above the sea of corruption and iniquity of the Pharaoh and his people, or army. By the help of God through Moses, the Israelites were able to cross this sea safely and reach the Promised Land (spiritual state) while Pharaoh and his people were drowned in their own corruption."

Metaphors are used all over the Holy Books and they should not be interpreted literally or we would have to bend all logic to believe things did happen literally as they are described.

  3. @qwaider ,it is not a part of science , it is a matter of faith , what makes you believe there is God in the first place where as there are scientific theories like the evolution !!
There are something that science can't prove , because simply they are miracles
about the evidence well Sinia is full of traces ,for example the 7 wells of Moses , the Bush in Saint Catherine , Mount Moses ,I don't thik that are the product of the people's imagination all those years.
If we want a science to prove the Exodus ,well there is a simple proof , the Ramses II mummy , of course here in Egypt we have a pride to say that he is the pharaoh of the Exodus ,but I read when the mummy was in Paris in 1970s for examination, they found traces of Salt in his lungs as proof for drowning
@Egyptian Baha'i ,the spiritual meanings do exist, for example the Gardens of eden are said to be on earth
anyhow with my all respect to your book but if you are saying "the promise land" spiritually , yet they were already lost in Sinia for 40 years , they can't be spiritually as also I would mention another storiesof the 7 Moses well, 10 commandments and the arrival to the the promised land
    this can't be spiritual easily

  4. I never said that the actual exodus never happened in real. They did go to the promised land out of Egypt. But the miracles and incidents that happened during this trip are all metaphorical. You want me to believe that they were "actually" lost in the desert for 40 years? Come on... Those are still humans we're talking about not mystical creature that would be lost in the desert for 40 years and still survive. Do you think actual sound came out of a flaming bush? Does this mean if anyone was there with Moses he would have heard it too? I don't think so. It was a special revelation and spiritual inspiration to Moses. God "gave" Moses two "plates" with the commandments? Not likely that God would have to be materialised like that to "hold" something and give it out.

  5. You know, when dealing with scientists saying "faith" with no proof is like committing suicide.
A scientist's job is to collect evidence to prove his theories. Not say, "it's mentioned in the book" because the fact of the matter is that, what you believe in is not necessarily what someone else believes in

As for the mummy with salt in the lungs! Give me a break. Of ALL THE SALTS the Egyptians used, how is this one different!? I find it as a bunch of hoaxes. That if anything undermine the faith.

As a person of faith, I personally believe there is no contradiction between science and religion especially when it comes to theories like Evolution, which every respectable scientist in the world believes in.

  6. Qwaider: I'm interested to know how you solved a grieve conflict like evolution vs creativity so simply? When the Bible says that God created Adam and Eve and created everything the way we know it now, and Darwin says that all living things evoluted from other forms. How could science and religion be in harmony in this case?

Unless, again :) we avoid the literal interpretation of the story of creation. The way the Baha'i faith explains the creation of Adam and Eve is that they were the first humans to know of God's existence. This means there were humans on earth before them. Which answers a lot of other questions by the way.

  8. @Baha'i this is very interesting creation story it is like what Dr. Abdel Sabor Shahin said in his book "My father Adam", I read the creation story in the bible and that's why it is good to hear it from you too

@qwaider , you know my own belief that Ramses the II is the pharaoh of the Exodus that when I saw him lying in the EGyptian museum I remember the part in the holy Quran where God says that he would the pharaoh an example for the whole world
There is a dear friend who once told about this topic the following "don't expect to find all the evidence in the sands of Egypt ,it is a matter of belief"

  9. Alright, so this is partly to Bahaii also.
I talked about Faith before. How it is a matter of uncertainity that requires faith. If it was certain, it will no longer be faith.

Anyway, as for Evolution and Islam, I have also talked about this before, here
